Don’t miss this chance to get off the beaten path and explore nature with this opportunity to try different adapted off-road equipment! This will be a casual, fun and informative day for all involved. It will also be a nice social event to relax and connect with others. This FREE, family friendly event will be held at Rising Light Ridge. Their beautiful wooded property has a system of trails and paths that we can utilize as well as ample space for other activities like fishing (you must bring your own equipment, but no fishing license is needed). We will be gathering off-road equipment from various sources so that there will be several different types available to try. You can check out some of the cool stuff that you will be able to try below. Bike-On will also be joining us. They will be bringing a variety of different adaptive equipment for people to check out, including various handcycles and recumbent bikes.
We will do our best to accommodate everyone as best we can. Based on event turnout and equipment availability we may limit the time pieces of equipment can be used by an individual and have it be on a first come – first serve basis. The use of certain pieces of the adapted equipment will be limited to those with mobility impairments. To help those who might need assistance we will also be working with the University of Scranton’s Physical Therapy Department to aid with transfers and setup.
Lunch will be provided. Family members and friends are welcome to join the event. Dogs are also welcome. There may be an opportunity for guests to try some of the equipment depending on turnout and availability.
RSVP Required by September 10th, 2023. RSVP HERE
Please remember that this is an outdoor, off-road themed event. Shortly after entering the property, the road turns to compacted crushed stone and travels through the woods and up some hills. However, please know it was driven without any issue in a lower floor, adapted minivan. Parking will be either on compacted stone or grass, and the staging area is hard-packed ground. An accessible port-a-lav and handwashing station will be on site. Please see pictures below for reference.
