Are you a fan of the outdoors but aren’t able to explore them as you’d like? We’re excited to share with you a new opportunity through Northeast Off-Road Adaptive Adventures (NORA). Located in New York’s Catskill Mountains, NORA’s 75-acre facility has created an adaptive program to assist those with mobility impairments in experiencing the fun and freedom of going off-road. Through their SOAR program, they offer options such as the GRIT Freedom Chair, and the Action Trackchair, as well as adaptive off-road driving or ride-alongs. In order to make these activities open to more individuals to experience, the dedicated team at NORA was able to secure a grant from the Disability Opportunity Fund and is reaching out to organizations like ours to help spread the word. In order to make these activities free for members of I AM and guests, we will be providing additional financial support to offset the cost of participation.
These activities are open to either an individual or a small group of up to four members. There are two dates that have been set aside specifically for members of I AM to check out all they have to offer at their facility. These are September 25th and October 9th. They are also open members requesting a specific date, as long as there are no previous bookings. In order to attend on one of the scheduled dates, or on a date of your choosing, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 845-514-9896.
