Welcome to the Bike Buddy Program!

The new Bike Buddy Program was developed by physical therapists in conjunction with I AM, partnered with the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority, and sponsored by the Scranton Area Community Foundation. The purpose of the Bike Buddy Program is to minimize potential barriers to adaptive outdoor recreation access by training riders and caregivers in safe adaptive bike transfers and use, and independent Lackawanna Heritage Trail negotiation through scheduled, individualized sessions with trained volunteers. The primary goals of the Bike Buddy Program are:

1) To improve self-efficacy to enable riders and Bike Buddies to ride without volunteer support in the future, or

2) To increase access to trained volunteer assistance as needed for rider and Bike Buddy safety.

If you are interested in learning more about connecting with Bike Buddy volunteers, please email: BikeBuddy@individualabilities.org.
